In March 2025, the Commission launched the European Energy Storage Inventory, a real-time dashboard that displays energy storage levels across different European countries. It is the first European-level tool of its kind and offers energy storage data across a full range of technologies.

Many European energy storage markets are growing strongly, with 4.9 GW (12.1 GWh) of utility-scale (front-of-the-meter) energy storage deployed in 2024, giving an estimated total of more than 13 GW.
