Does Poisson distribution differ from practical density distribution?

Interestingly, by taking advantage of large amount of realistic deployment information of BSs from on-operating cellular networks, we find that the widely adopted Poisson distribution severely diverges from the practical density distribution of BSs. Instead, heavy-tailed distributions could more precisely match the practical distribution.

Why do we need additional base stations?

Hence, additional base stations (BSs) may be needed to satisfy the new demand. This case addresses the application of dynamic permanent demand for service such as establishing a new residential area over several time periods where new demand clusters are created in each time period as the residential area expands.
