What is a portable & renewable electric vehicle backup charging system (prevbcs)?

This paper describes the design of a Portable & Renewable Electric Vehicle Backup Charging System (PREVBCS). The PREVBCS is a set of solar panels and an integrated external battery mounted on the EV roof rack. The 100 kg, 0.29 meters3 unit produces a minimum of 5 kWh when charging in direct sunlight for 8 hours. 1. Context Analysis

When should you use a portable EV charging system?

The portable charging system can also be deployed when the EV runs low in traffic congestion compounded by hot/cold temperatures or when public charging stations are inoperable. The solar panels can charge the EV battery without having to bear the costs of the power grid.

What is power module in a DC charging station?

The power module in a DC charging station consists of AC/DC power stage and DC/DC power stage integrated into the charging station. Each converter is associated with its power stage comprises of power switches and gate driver, current and voltage sensing, and controller.

How to charge a battery?

The recommended solution is to power the system directly from the input source, when it is available, and at the same time to charge the battery from the input via the charger. This allows the charger to be dedicated exclusively to the battery without any external disturbances.
